TRU Salon Open House

We recently attended a wonderful Grand Opening/Open House of TRU Salon in Dallas. TRU Salon is located in the heart of uptown Dallas at 2715 Fairmount Street. The owner, Tanya Carpenter, has done a fantastic job of renovating this vintage home in to a relaxing place to get ready on the day of your event or wedding. Upon entering the salon you are greeted by a beautiful staircase and tons of room to move about. The second floor is a large space for getting ready with your bridal party/friends privately. A unique aspect of TRU Salon is that all of the furniture/salon equipment can be moved and you can host your very own private event in this awesome space. I think it would be perfect for parties of 150 or less; maybe for a bridal shower, baby shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner... but the possibilities are ENDLESS! Holiday Weddings, The Good, The Bad and the Reality

This month's AACWP meeting was held at the beautiful Crescent Club at Rosewood Crescent Hotel, on the 17th Floor, in the Rotisserie Dining Room. Perfectly located in the heart of Dallas moments away from the arts district and the new Winspear Opera House, the Crescent offers a variety of spaces that are all beautiful and multi functional. Anything from a ladies luncheon to cocktail receptions, ceremonies and seated dinners. The Crescent offers an array of choices to accommodate your plans and your guest list from 50 to 350. With breathtaking views of downtown you can't go wrong. Also available is the Crescent Ballroom which accommodates up to 350 guests for a reception, as well as the Gallery Ballroom and Terrace that can accommodate up to 300 guests.

For more information on the Crescent Club you can visit http://www.rosewoodhotels.com/

The AACWP meeting began with a cocktail hour followed by a tour of the space. After the tour we were served a wonderful four course dinner, which was concluded by a Crescent shaped creme brulee with fresh berries and raspberry sauce. After dinner a round table discussion about "Holiday Weddings" began. I know the first thing that comes to mind are Christmas and New Years weddings. There are so many other holidays that can play a role in any event, they can sure create some interesting planning challenges. Everything from availability of the DJ, limo rentals and venues. Having an event on or near a holiday can make a world of difference when you are talking budget. You also need to consider flowers, when you are near a holiday like Valentines day or Mothers Day you need to begin thinking about availability of certain flowers. You will be challanged to find a red rose if you plan to having a your on Valentines Day if you don't plan early. The good news is that there are some PROS to having your event near or on a holiday. Some venues are slow so they are looking to generate extra revenue around the holidays, therefore they might be willing to cut you a deal, or give you a break on guest rooms. Also, if you are wanting a winter themed holiday wedding than planning it within the month of December then it's ideal, since most venues decorate for the holidays, you will be in luck. THe reality is wheather the holiday creates a challenge or benefits the theme of the event it is the planners job to make the event one to remember!

Happy Holidays!

City Chic meets Downtown Style- ThirdSpace Launch Party

Sarabeth and I had the pleasure of attending the Third Space Launch Party last Thursday, November 5. We are so excited about this venue because the space has so much to offer a small to medium sized social event and stands in the most remote area of downtown.

The ThirdSpace Launch Party turned out to be an amazing time with great friends, food and entertainment. Supporting sponsors such as Rebecca Lorrine Photography, i entertainment, Trinity Event Staffing, and Di Fiori put on a festive show. Rebecca Lorrine Photography introduced the Flair, Fun, Flavor, Flash Foto as seen above, perfect for any memorable event. Cameron from i-entertainment flared his DJ skills forcing everyone out on the floor. I must say there were some interesting moves that made for a good laugh. Once again, Trinity Event Staffing provided energetic, sharp, and helpful service throughout the carefree evening. Great Job to all!

ABOUT THE VENUE

Built in 1915 and formerly the Linz Brothers jewelers, this recently renovated art gallery boasts an eclectic mix of refined and historical elements. The grand proportions and original terrazzo floor in the main space are perfectly complemented by the intimate and more exposed industrial feel of the Mezzanine gallery. The Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas’ Art Lab has a look and feel that is all its own. The Art Lab is part of a vibrant shopping and lifestyle scene nestled beside the flagship Neiman Marcus and neighboring the newest luxury hotel The Joule and the Charlie Palmer restaurant. Imagine your next reception, party, or dinner surrounded by contemporary art from premier galleries in a setting as unique as your event (ThirdSpace Website, 09).
